How Bill gave King’s Day sellers the royal treatment

King’s Day and @tikkie_app are an iconic duo. Every year, the app breaks records during the nationwide flea markets. But we felt the real heroes, the dedicated sellers out there in the rain and shine deserved some proper recognition.

So, we teamed up with Tikkie to introduce the ‘Tikkie Betaallintje’ (Payment Ribbon).

Just like the traditional royal honors given out in the Netherlands this time of year, we’re honoring the true Oranje-entrepreneurs. The Betaallintje is a physical, wearable ribbon featuring a personalized QR code, making getting paid on the vrijmarkt easier (and more stylish) than ever.

The activation campaign is rolling out across the streets, online video, social, and the Tikkie app. Happy King’s Day, and happy selling!

Taking it to the streets

A royal honor deserves a proper ceremony. So we didn’t just launch a campaign—we actually hit the road for a nationwide activation. We scoured the flea markets on the hunt for sellers who were already using a Tikkie QR code. Those who did were surprised with a stately, mobile ceremony right in the middle of the market chaos. In total, we made it rain with 6,000 ribbons across the Netherlands, celebrating the true heroes of the ‘vrijmarkt’ on the spot.
